An image generation prompt is a scene described in words. Instead of requesting an impressive image, explain what is present, where it sits, how it is lit and where you plan to use the result. Those details give you a basis for comparing revisions.

Start with the subject and placement
For a product visual, describe shape, material and color. For a banner, specify space where you will add copy later. State how many subjects should appear and where they belong. If your tool has separate aspect-ratio or resolution settings, make sure those settings match the intended use.
Make composition, lighting and background agree
Choose a front or angled view and decide whether the subject fills the frame or appears in a wider setting. Then describe light direction, softness and background material. Remove conflicting conditions, such as bright daylight and a dark night scene, or explain which one takes priority.
Revise one visual element at a time
If the subject works but the background does not, change the background first. Altering every condition makes it difficult to identify what helped. Inspect the final image closely for product shape, readable text, hands and small structures instead of assuming that a convincing overall scene is accurate.
An example to make your own
A product visual with space for your own headline
Replace the bracketed fields, then paste into your AI tool.
A product-photography-style image with one [product] on the right. Show [material and color] from an angled view. Soft natural light from the left, with a [background material] backdrop. Leave generous empty space on the left for copy added later. Mood: [brand mood]. Do not include text, logos or extra products. Intended use: [banner/social post/product page].
Before you run the prompt
- Define subject count, shape and position.
- Reserve the right space and proportions for the use case.
- Remove conflicting lighting or style instructions.
Frequently asked questions
Does this example require a model-specific syntax?
No. It is a plain-language scene description. Check your image tool's current instructions before adding any model-specific parameters or options.
Can a generated product image be used without review?
Check the shape, color and included parts against the real product. For uses that communicate product information, make sure the generated image does not misrepresent what is offered.
